About Dr. Fine

Dr. Karen Fine is a holistic veterinarian who practices integrative medicine, drawing from both conventional (western) veterinary medicine and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM).

Dr. Fine graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. In 2001, she attended the first veterinary acupuncture course offered by Tufts.  Following the course, Dr. Fine achieved certification in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS). She enjoys teaching and has been both a teaching assistant and Lab Director for subsequent Tufts’ veterinary acupuncture courses. Dr. Fine has mentored many veterinarians as they learn acupuncture. She has completed several courses in Chinese and western herbal medicine, and has also traveled to China for a veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine conference.  Dr. Fine recently attended a Chinese Medicine Food Therapy course.

Dr. Fine’s special interests include holistic treatment of geriatric conditions and cancer. In 2004, her beloved 4-year-old dog, Rana, was diagnosed with an aggressive, incurable cancer of the mouth. With the help of a special diet, herbs and supplements, Rana lived an active, happy life for 18 months — six times longer then the 3-month prognosis given by her oncologist!

Dr. Fine owned and operated her own house call practice, Fine Veterinary House Calls, for twenty-five years. Currently, she sees appointments at the wonderful Central Animal Hospital in Leominster, MA, where she has worked for over twenty years.  To schedule an appointment there, call 978-537-0239.  http://www.centralanimalhospma.com.

Dr. Fine lives with her husband and son, and an assortment of rescues.
