The Other Family Doctor: A Veterinarian Explores What Animals Can Teach Us About Love, Life, and Mortality

My memoir has been sold to Anchor Books, a division of Penguin Random House! I’m very excited as I wrote the book after many years of veterinary practice. Its been such a privilege to have a close view of the human animal bond in so many wonderful variations. The book is about my experiences both as a veterinarian and as a pet owner myself, especially after my own dog was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer at the age of four.

As soon as we have a release date for the book, I will post it here! Meanwhile, I was honored to have the book deal featured in Publisher’s Weekly.

Here’s what one of my early reviewers (who was anonymous at the time) wrote about what the book helped her realize:

“…just because we have doubts, and insecurities, and make mistakes it doesn’t mean we’re bad pet parents. The relief I felt time and time again while reading the book was amazing. It seemed like every other page I was saying, ‘Oh wow, if she felt like that/did that then I’m not horrible for feeling/doing similar.’ …This book is a salve to the aching soul. This book is the trusted mentor who pats us on the shoulder and says, ‘It’s alright…Even experts don’t have all the answers. Even experts cry.'”
